What's the job outlook?

According to industry analysts, network security is one of the fastest growing fields in Information Technology, due to the increase in network vulnerability and security threats. Data theft and other unauthorized access to computer systems and Web sites can be enormously detrimental to a company's success. Executives from all types of companies are reporting that information technology specialists with security expertise are highly valued, because safeguarding systems is a mission critical role.

What will I do with my education?

Graduates of Heald's Network Security program pursue rewarding careers in a variety of positions, including Information Security Specialist, Database Security Specialist, Web Application Security Specialist, LAN Administrator, Junior Network Administrator, and Technical Support Specialist (Tier II and Tier III). You'll also be well-prepared to pursue the following technical certifications: CompTIA A+, Network+, Linux+, Security+, Microsoft® Certified Professional (MCP), and Microsoft® Certified Desktop Support Technician.

As a Network Security Specialist, you'll be considered an expert in encryption, authentication and client and server security. You'll likely be responsible for configuring firewalls, recovering and backing up critical business data, and using intrusion detection techniques to detect hacking activities. No matter which position you hold, your Heald degree will help prepare you for great success in the network security field.
